The engine fuel requirement is analyzed up to 100 times per second. The engine injection volume and injection timing are controlled electronically via the fuel valves in the injectors. The control unit receives signals from sensors and monitors in order to determine when the fuel valve must open and close. This means the engine always receives the correct fuel volume under all operating conditions, which means lower fuel con- sumption and the lowest possible exhaust emission.
